In the last quarter of 2007, Galería del Sur
decided to expand its offerings beyond just an exhibit space and began to incorporate new alternatives for art education to the children of San Juan del Sur. This opened a very important door for the local youth who have since become some of the gallery’s most avid supporters.

Our Creative Arts Classes are held every weekday afternoon and on Saturday mornings, and are open to the public free of charge.
In attendance are mostly children and youth, but adults often join as well. Sewing, Painting and Recycled Arts are among class topics.

Dance classes began in March 2008 through the initiative of Fundación A. Jean Brugger’s sponsored students, who formed a small dance troupe, performing traditional Nicaraguan dances.
The troupe is now often asked to perform at local events, and the classes have expanded to include other local youth and dance types.
